Welcome to Common Pond, a 15 home community of architect designed, modern cabins and homes, planned and built with ecological intelligence in mind. As of September 15, 2008 we have seven home built, all of which are sold. Six more lots are either sold or pending contracts, which leaves just two lots, and an out-parcel available. The Blondea home on lot six in Common Pond will be featured in the October issue of Metropolitan Home and the Retel-Rosas home on lot 8 will be featured in the Winter issue  of Innovative Home Magazine, so if you are interested in visiting, may we suggest that you do so soon ?

We are located in Georgia's Appalachian Foothills between Ellijay, Blue Ridge and Dahlonega. Midtown Atlanta is just 100 minutes away via gentle paved roads.  Fast and reliable DSL service makes tele-commuting an easy and energy-saving way for you to spend more time in this quiet rural area.

Common Pond's development goal is to disturb the environment as little as possible, both during construction and for the life of your home.Energy Star appliances, high quality Pella windows, spray foam insulation, on-demand water heaters, high efficiency air-conditioners, and radiant heat are just a few of the tools we use to meet that goal.

Our architecture is based on the idea that homes in these verdant hills should be beautiful to the eye as well as easy and inexpensive to maintain. It celebrates simplicity of line and the innovative use of materials to create interior spaces that welcome nature into your home

The Taoist philosopher Laozi puts it this way: "Cut doors and windows for a room; It is the holes that make it useful. Therefore profit comes from what is there; Usefulness from what is not there."

We are blessed with 37 acres that feature a variety of views and topography. Each lot is unique, so we spend time and effort selecting plans that complement the topography and building sites that minimize environmental impact.

To date all the homes in Common Pond are customized variations of six plans created by Houser Walker Architecture in Atlanta, GA and Gregory La Vadera in Merchantsville, NJ. We welcome the work of other architects subject to the approval of our design review process.
