Thinking About Buying in the Mountains?
If you are looking for more information about property buying in general, please click on the "Learning?" button above. If you are ready to start looking at properties, read on.
Looking for a home, property or business in these mountains is best accomplished with a different point of view than looking in an urban area. We've structured our search interface to help you see what is on the market as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Our suggestions, by field:
-
Listing Type:
Choose the one you want unless you want to see both land and residences, then leave it at the default.
-
Area:
If you are just starting your search, stay with the default so that you get the best sample of what is on the market. Once you know something about the area, search by county.
-
Price Range:
If the property is more important than the price, leave things as they are, or lower the minimum price. If you are shopping in a price range, select the brackets above and below your desired range.
-
Beds and Baths:
If the property, location, architecture, condition are more important than the difference between two bedrooms or three, select on the low side. Many mountain homes have lofts and basement spaces that can be used as occassional sleeping areas.
-
Acreage:
When you start your search, use the default or keep the number low.
-
Views, Frontage and Terrain:
Views and terrain are quite subjective; use these criteria with care. Frontage is generally more objective, but not always completely reflective of a property.
